Strip and renew
What was the job?
Through the Academy bid process, TRS won the school roofing repairs contract to strip the existing concrete-tile roofs and renew them with Garland UK’s R-mer Loc aluminium colour coated, secret fix insulated sheeting. The system combines watertight integrity, aesthetic versatility, and meets the widest possible range of functional and aesthetic requirements.
A second element of renewing the college’s existing flat roofs was also conducted, using the Garland insulated StressPly torch on felt system, which is waterproof, tear/puncture resistant and boosts thermal characteristics.
As with all our jobs, site safety and minimising disruptions are part of our key goals. However, this project certainly required our experience as the roofing repairs and replacements were carried out whilst the school was occupied. Our teams worked onsite during term-time, ensuring safe access for all staff and students, and throughout the school holidays. It was absolutely worth it: the look of the college was completely transformed with modern materials and insulation upgrades.
Mission
School roofing repairs, including stripping and replacing concrete-tile roofing with insulated aluminium sheeting.
Challenge
Roofing contractors working above and near staff and students in a populated college.
Result
A term-time transformation, with student safety a primary priority.
